Two Danish actors will be hired by Ubisoft, for the protagonist roles in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s main character, Eivor, can either be a man or a woman. Ubisoft decided to hire two different performers to record their voice lines and more. As of today, the actors that play the lead roles have been confirmed.
The male version of Eivor will be performed by Magnus Bruun. This guy, best known for playing Cnut on Netflix’s medieval series, The Last Kingdom and he is really fit for this role. If you look at his Instagram profile, his description you will read: Danish actor, viking, father, etc. Thus, we believe that Ubisoft’s choise is a perfect one, and for these yet not convinced, a look at his photos should change their mind.
The female version of Eivor is portrayed by actress Cecilie Stenspil, who is known for her theatre, TV, and movie work. 2018’s Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey allowed you to choose to play as siblings Kassandra or Alexios, and their stories wove together in a very interesting way. According to Ubisoft though, Kassandra was the canon character in the wider fiction, but not necessarily in the game.
However, Assassin’s Creed’s Valhalla narrative director Darby McDevitt assured the franchise’s fans on Twitter that both choices are canon, and he teased that the studio pulled off a trick to allow this to make sense. According to Darby, they are not going to spoil how they managed that trick until we play the game.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is set to release in Holiday 2020 for Xbox Series X, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, Stadia, and on PC exclusively through the Epic Games Store. It will also be available as part of the UPlay+ subscription service.
