This year, Blizzard cancelled BlizzCon 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak and announced an online event in 2021 that would “channel the BlizzCon spirit”. The details were still being hammered out but, today, the online BlizzCon 2021 was confirmed for 19-20 Ferbruary.

This online event will host a big Community Showcase of work from artists, cosplayers, pros and content creators. Art, music, cosplay and video competitions will be held, with large cash prizes and travel tickets. In addition, the March of the Murlocs will also take place in an online version that nobody can be sure what to expect. Below you can check some of the announced “in-BlizzCon” events.

  • Best Blizzard Character – Recognizing outstanding interpretations of iconic heroes and villains from the worlds of Diablo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, Overwatch, StarCraft, and Warcraft.
  • Best Blizzard Weapons & Armor – Recognizing the exemplary craftsmanship that goes into building epic, battlefield-worthy gear.
  • Best Modern Creation – Recognizing expertise in working with materials such as foams and plastics, and incorporating 3D printing, electronics, and technology.
  • Best Traditional Creation – Recognizing masterful skill in working with materials such as fabric, leather, metal, and wood.

BlizzCon 2021 will also feature a new talent show, where players will get a chance to show off their special talents, ranging from musical or comedy to physical. According to Blizzard, “examples could include, but are not limited to … a re-enactment of a scene, a sketch, stand-up comedy, a dance routine, acrobatics, or an instrumental or vocal musical performance.” However, there are three conditions. No explicit language, original or Blizzard content only and nothing longer than three minutes.

We don’t know much about BlizzCon 2021 yet, but we will update the article as soon as we have more details. In other Blizzard news, be sure to read some Warcraft or Diablo lore before heading to the next BlizzCon.
